Music
holds a significant and special place in the everyday life of all cultures and
societies. Studying Music can enhance enjoyment of music and the arts, develop
your practical and creative potential, and allow students to contribute to a
community’s cultural life.
Students
at Sandgate District SHS study a wide range of music styles throughout their
study in a highly interactive and practical music program. Students perform,
compose and study music to develop their skills and develop as musicians.
At
Sandgate District SHS, students can elect to participate in the Master Music
program. This is an excellence program designed for students with demonstrated
musical aptitude for students in Year 7 and 8. Our music program is
complemented by our Instrumental Music program which provides tailored musical
instrument tuition and ensembles for students to participate in.
In
Year 12, students can elect to study Music Extension, majoring in either
Performance, Composition or Musicology. Music Extension provides an opportunity
for students with specific abilities in music to extend their expertise.
