​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Sandgate District State High School offers a broad and comprehensive curriculum for students designed to provide opportunities for students to expand their horizons.  A teaching and learning framework called Dimensions of Learning underpins the curriculum and provides students and teachers with a common language in relation to thinking and learning.

The Junior School curriculum is based around the core Key Learning Areas of English, Mathematics, Science, Studies of Society and the Environment, the Arts, Technology, Health and Physical Education and Languages (Japanese and German). A range of extension and support classes are available to all students. Students also have the opportunity to apply to study in specialist programs. Academic Edge offers an academically challenging curriculum based on creative thinking and problem solving, while Immerse IT offers students the opportunity to embed ICTs across their core subjects.

The Senior Secondary curriculum provides students with the opportunity to select a course of study that reflects their selected pathway. Students seeking university admission can select from over twenty Authority subjects while a variety of vocational subjects and certificate course are available to students seeking employability skills.

The school Special Education Program supports students with disability both within the unit as well as in the mainstream.
