Enrolment at Sandgate District State High School is governed by an Enrolment Management Plan which sets conditions of enrolment and boundaries that determine the catchment area for the school.
Sandgate District State High School recognises as its prime obligation, the provision of access to an appropriate educational service for students whose principle place of residence is within the school's catchment area.

Year 7 2025 Enrolments
Expression of Interest to Enrol forms for 2025 are now available for collection from the School Office, or by download from this page.
Expressions of Interest (EOI) are required for all prospective 2025 enrolments, and can be lodged in person at our school office between the hours of 8:00am-3:30pm, or by email via Enrol@sandgatedistrictshs.eq.edu.au
We encourage applicants to ensure that the Expression of Interest is completed carefully and all supporting documentation is provided at the time of submitting to avoid any delays.
To successfully submit your EOI, the following documents must be provided:
- A copy of the student's two (2) most recent school reports
- A copy of the student's NAPLAN results if coming from a non QLD State School.
- Two (2) proof of student's principle place of residence
- One primary source - a current rental/lease agreement, or rates notice, or unconditional contract of sale; AND
- One secondary source - a utility bill (eg electricity, gas) showing this same address and parent's/legal guardian's name
- Copy of birth certificate (and if applicable: passport, visa or citizenship)
- Signature program application form/s – if applying
After Submitting an EOI
All Expressions of Interest will be reviewed by the Enrolment Committee. Successful applicants will receive a letter confirming their approval to enrol, along with the official Application for Enrolment forms to be completed. At this time, you will also be provided with information on how to book your enrolment interview. These interviews will take place in groups of enrolling students and take approximately one hour. These interviews are a requirement for all enrolling students, and should be attended by students and a parent or carer.
Out of Catchment Enrolments
Out of catchment applications will be added to the out of catchment wait list and will be reviewed as per the steps above, in accordance with the school's Enrolment Management Plan. Successful applicants will be advised by post with all the required information provided above.
Signature Programs
Excelsior Academic Program
Sandgate District State High School is proud to offer the Excelsior Academic Program from 2023. This innovative and exciting program allows students from year 7-10 to tailor their learning experiences in an environment specifically targeted towards enrichment (onwards) and extension (upwards).
Based on the Australian Curriculum, the Excelsior Academic Program offers students the opportunity to develop:
- Higher order thinking skills
- Creativity, innovation and problem-solving skills
- Global citizenship, team building, collaborative and communication skills
- Competitions, excursions and unique learning opportunities
- Industry, business or university partnerships
- Students who are members of the Excelsior program classes are offered flexibility to enrich, extend, compress or accelerate their learning in individual subject areas via an application process.
Athlete Development Program
Our Athlete Development Program is aimed at providing young athletes with coaching and experiences in all facets of skill acquisition as well as strength and conditioning, to progress their sporting capability in any context.
To be considered for the ADP Program, students must complete an application form, provide one reference from your current Coach or Manager, and participate in the compulsory physical testing day.
Dance Excellence Program
The Dance Excellence Program is an extension program with a focus on performance. This program is for students in years 7 to 12 who demonstrate exceptional talent in Dance. Students will be challenged and extend their abilities in a high level performance troupe.
To enrol in the Dance Excellence Program please complete an application form and participate in a group audition.
Music Excellence Program
The Music Excellence is an extension program with a focus on performance. This program is for students in years 7 to 12 who demonstrate exceptional music talent, instrumental and/or vocal.
The program focusses on engaging students in performance through a variety of ensemble groups, solo and chamber performances in a wide range of musical styles that suit their music style.
Students wishing to be considered for the 2025 Music Excellence Program for Year 7 must complete an application form and attend an audition.
Audition Requirements
• 2 contrasting pieces of music from a method book or as prepared for an exam (not concert band or orchestra pieces)
• Two scales at their level
